As part of the NIH grant that
supports Joslin Diabetes Center’s Diabetes and Endocrinology Research Center
(DERC), the Pilot & Feasibility Program offers funding in 2009 for three studies
in the areas of Type-1 diabetes, Type-2 diabetes or their complications, from
either a basic research or clinical perspective.
Research volunteers at Joslin Diabetes Center in
Boston have a critical role in helping to advance the treatment and
understanding of diabetes and its complications. The participation of research
study volunteers at Joslin has been instrumental in providing greater excellence
in the care of others with diabetes.
DGAP represents a unique, multidimensional initiative whose goal is to unravel the interface between insulin action, insulin resistance and the genetics of type 2 diabetes. The project was developed in conjunction with NIDDK in response to the report of the Diabetes Research Working Group and represents the efforts of investigators from 5 institutions.
